And all the nearby localities
Gulf of Macari
Surely you will have discovered the beauty of this landscape thanks to the filming of the TV series of the same name aired on Rai 1.
Macari (or Makari) really exists! The small fishing village gives its name to the panoramic inlet framed by Mount Cofano.
On the coast, beaches and rocky coves of inimitable beauty alternate. Do not miss Cala Bue Marino, Cala dell’Isulidda coves, Santa Margherita Bay (a stone's throw from us!), and the other coves of the Gulf.
Mount Cofano
Imposing, located at the extreme west of the landscape on the Macari coast, Mount Cofano dominates the wild bay.
The promontory has many plant and animal specimens that inhabit the western coast of the province, including some living species at risk of extinction. To protect these jewels of nature, a nature reserve has been created, which can be visited on foot or on horseback! If you love trekking and nature walks, Mount Cofano is a destination which is not to be missed.
Tonnara (tuna fishery) of Scopello
The Tonnara of Scopello is also the protagonist for scenes in the Makari TV series on Rai 1.
Here is where the authors set the scenes of the restaurant belonging to the famous Marilù, friend and confidant of the main character Saverio La Manna. The Tonnara of Scopello tells the long tradition of this territory dedicated to the fishing of bluefin tuna in the Mediterranean. The complex, which also belonged to the Florio family, dates back to the 13th century and today houses an anthropological museum with a collection tools of the trade and the ancient boats used for fishing.
San Vito Lo Capo
It is the most famous seaside resort in Western Sicily. Its white and fine sandy beach welcomes the undertow of the bluest sea, which will be the background of your saltiest summer days.
The small seaside village welcomes you with shops, restaurants and ice cream parlours where you can taste typical local dishes such as the famous Couscous alla Sanvitese and the Caldo Freddo (an ice cream cup enriched with cream, rum sponge cake and melted chocolate).
San Vito Lo Capo lights up with events and festivals from April to October. Find out which appointments you can experience during the period you will stay with us.
Orientated Nature Reserve of the Zingaro
A splendid natural oasis, located a few minutes from San Vito Lo Capo, preserves animal and plant species that live only in this stretch of coast.
The Oriented Nature Reserve of the Zingaro was created thanks to the commitment of local citizens who fought to fully preserve this area of great naturalistic importance for the preservation of biodiversity.
The Dwarf Palm is the symbol of the reserve and grows undisturbed throughout its territory. The magical white pebble coves will enchant you with the blue of its waters. Visit it by land or by sea and let yourself be enchanted by the wonders of nature.
